Jaime Moyer plays God at JET April 27–May 21
WEST BLOOMFIELD—JET will present the Michigan premiere of the new comedy, An Act of God, directed by Lavinia Hart and featuring the talents of Detroit native (and Hart’s daughter) commedienne Jaime Moyer who has returned from Los Angeles to play the Almighty. Joining Moyer as the angels Gabriel and Michael are Dave Davies and Carollette Phillips. The production will run from April 27 through May 21.
In this 80 minute comedy commuion with the Creator, God has returned to rewrite and update some of the Law–with angels at the ready to both challenge and support the new word for a new world.
An Act of God is written by David Javerbaum, the former executive producer and head writer of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Mr. Javerbaum has received 11 Emmys and two nominations for his work on The Daily Show, as well as two Peabody Awards and Television Critics Awards for both Best Comedy and Best News Show.
Jaime Moyer is an alumni of the University of Detroit-Mercy and The Second City-Detroit, and is a comedy veteran who has performed nationwide. She performs with The Second City-Hollywood and iO WEST in Los Angeles.
Making the production complete is the set by JET Technical Director and Designer Elspeth Williams, which features a heavenly hangout complete with reflecting pool and some surprising weather features that she describes affectionately as “cloud puppets.”
