What A Do will close season with Tennessee Williams classic; opens May 5
SPRINGFIELD—What A Do Theatre will present Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize winning Cat on a Hot Tin Roof as its season finale.
Directed by Randy Wolfe, the show follows the complicated dynamics of the Pollit family. Having just been released from the doctor with a clean bill of health, Big Daddy Pollit, along with the rest of his family are celebrating his birthday. Attendees of the party are all aware that the clean bill of health is a falsehood. Many of the members attempt to manipulate his imminent demise to their advantage. At the center of the plot is the strained relationship between Brick and Maggie. Brick, son of Big Daddy and Big Mama, struggles with his lust for liquor. Maggie, the story’s cat, is desperate for Brick to recognize her as his wife. As the evening progresses, the cancer diagnosis is revealed to Big Daddy and the rest of the family must learn to face the struggles that are keeping them down.
