Celebrating familiar nighttime rituals, Goodnight Moon is a delightful and charming family musical based upon one of the most popular children's books of all time. Written in simple feminine rhyme, the book describes a bunny's bedtime ritual of saying "goodnight" to various objects in its bedroom, including the telephone, the dollhouse, the bears, etc. The quiet poetry of the words and the gentle, lulling illustrations combine to make a perfect book for the end of the day.
This classic of modern children's literature has been beloved by readers and listeners for more than 60 years. Goodnight Moon was first published in 1947, written by Margaret Wise Brown and illustrated by Clement Hurd. The 32-page book slowly became a bestseller, with annual sales growing from approximately 1,500 copies in 1953 to 20,000 in 1970. By 1990, the total number of copies sold was more than 4 million.
Goodnight Moon is sponsored by the Michigan Education Trust and Michigan Education Savings Plan, and is part of the Belle Tire Concert Series.
