The laughs will continue in Novi beginning Aug. 1 with Kwame A River 2: The Wrath Of Conyers
NOVI - The Andiamo Novi Theatre has announced the highly-anticipated new revue Kwame A River 2: The Wrath of Conyers. Previews for the show can be seen Saturday, August 1 (7 p.m. and 9 p.m.) and Sunday, August 2 (8 p.m.), with opening night slated for Thursday, August 6 at 8 p.m.
Following the critically-acclaimed success production Kwame A River: The Chronicles of Detroit's Hip Hop Mayor, the new revue is a hilarious original satire that picks up and boldly goes where Kwame A River left off. Kwame is out of jail and in exile in Texas, and in his absence the unpredictable Monica Conyers has become president of the City Council. Kwame A River 2: The Wrath of Conyers hilariously chronicles Monica's tenure as head of Council and comically displays everything that happened - from raucous Council wars, Cobo contracts, and feuds with 8th graders – and everything that you didn't know happened, like Monica's secret therapy session with Dr. Phil, her unlikely and passionate affair with Ken Cockrel Jr., and her wacky plans to turn Metro Detroit into a tourism mecca.
This is a show especially for metro Detroiters, as dozens of local characters appear in the new show's sketches and songs, including Kwame and Carilta Kilpatrick, Dennis Archer, Coleman A. Young, Gov. Jennifer Granholm, George W. Bush, Jeff Daniels, Martha Reeves, Ken Cockrel Jr., Mel Farr Superstar, Kid Rock, Aretha Franklin, Geoffrey Feiger, Ted Nugent, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, L. Brooks Patterson, The Sam Bernstein family, and the entire unpredictable City Council.
Kwame A River 2: The Wrath of Conyers" is written and directed by Detroit native Marc Warzecha. Currently residing in Los Angeles, Warzecha has appeared on popular television comedies including MAD TV and Reno 911. Warzecha has received many honors including two Joseph Jefferson nominations for Best Director.
