Micro-Fest: USA is a national regional festival exploring how artists are addressing pressing issues facing their communities. The complete festival includes "Micro-Fest: Detroit Revitalize" (Aug. 17-19) ; "Micro-Fest: KY/TN Reconnect" (Oct. 25-28); and "Micro-Fest: New Orleans Renew" (Jan. 18-20, 2013). The aim of this project is to highlight art-based solutions to local issues while building national advocacy tools for the importance of art in healthy communities.
The Network of Ensemble Theatres is seeking volunteers in the following categories to assist with Micro-Festival in Detroit Aug. 17-19. "Micro-Fest: Detroit" will focus on the impact of art in revitalizing Detroit as a springboard into similar national efforts. We will be looking at arts in urban planning, food issues, sustainability, prison issues/reform and performance.
Ushers
Ushers are needed for all performances and dialogues and expected to arrive 45 minutes before an event's scheduled start time. Ushers are engaged as hosts. Duties include:

Anyone volunteering to assist with the technical aspect of any performance or event may be asked to do one or more of the following:
Note-Takers
During the festival, we will need note-takers for the following events: Post-show discussions, panel dialogues, opening and closing events. Note-takers should provide their own laptops and be able to type quickly. Notes should be edited before submitted to festival coordinator.
Videographer / Web-streaming
During the festival, we will be live streaming parts of the festival. This is a very simple process and we will need someone willing to run video equipment. Schedule is TBA. Although you don't have to be a "professional," some experience with camera work is most ideal.
