WYANDOTTE - The AKT Theatre Project is proud to announce its collaboration with the Woodhaven High School Theatre Program on "Macbeth" beginning Nov. 2.
"Macbeth" is considered one of William Shakespeare's darkest and most powerful tragedies. Set in Scotland, the play dramatizes the corroding psychological and political effects on someone who will be driven to murder to fulfill his ambition for power. Set in motion by the conniving witches as soon as the play begins, Macbeth finds himself in a downward stumble in attempt for power.
Featuring 37 actors and about a dozen technical students from Woodhaven High School, this production of "Macbeth" is creating a unique opportunity for students and professionals to work together and learn how to adapt a production blocked for a proscenium stage into an unconventional "tennis court" style theater. It has been a road filled with exploration, bravery and learning. Don't miss your chance to see this valiant collaboration.
"Macbeth" is under the direction of Michael G. Clemons, choreography and sound design by Angie Kane Ferrante, fight choreography by Jonathan Kind, student assistant director Cailin Reagan, and lighting design by Harley Miah and the WHS student lighting team.
Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Tickets for both venues can be purchased at the door. Wyandotte Arts Center performances can be reserved by calling 734-258-8370 or e-mailing tickets@AKTtheatre.com; Woodhaven High School performances can be purchased in advance from cast members.
