ADRIAN - The Croswell Opera House in downtown Adrian proudly presents "Snowflake," the one-man silent comedy that performer Gale LaJoye brings to life. To be presented Sunday, Dec. 23 at 2:30 p.m., Snowflake lives in a street lot that is a catchall for discarded things. With a hilarious blend of comedic genius, slapstick feats of balance, and tender moments, LaJoye spins the tale of a creative and gentle soul that entertains and gains pleasure from turning simple objects into comic treasures.
LaJoye's mastery of timing, nuance and subtle style will warm your heart, causing laughter, tears and pangs of recognition. Since first premiering "Snowflake" in 1990, the show has toured throughout Asia, South America, Australia, Mexico, Canada and the United States. Hailed by critics and audiences alike as a "must see," LaJoye has performed the show thousands of times, and weaves different schools of theater into funny and poignant stories that help adults and children turn sorrow into joy.
Tickets for "Snowflake" are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $5 for children. A $5 discount is available on adult tickets with a donation to help several local agencies. In collaboration with the Adrian Public Schools Homeless Student Program, the Boys and Girls Club of Lenawee, and the Catherine Cobb Shelter, The Croswell is collecting personal care items and $5 gift cards for local restaurants. All collected items will be shared with the partner organizations, and anyone who makes a donation will receive their adult ticket for just $15. A list of suggested items includes AA batteries, deodorant, shampoo, diapers, basketballs, dodge balls, Legos, Ziploc bags, calculators, board games, blow driers, and curling irons.
