Tickets on sale now for Broadway in Detroit's four hot shows

DETROIT - Just in time for holiday gift-giving, tickets for four hot Broadway in Detroit productions are now on sale: Monty Python's Spamalot starring Richard Chamberlain, Feb. 3-15, 2009 at the Fisher Theatre; Rent, starring Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp, Feb. 17-22, 2009 at the Detroit Opera House; Fiddler on the Roof with the original star from the movie, Chaim Topol, March 3-8, 2009 at the Detroit Opera House; and, Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, March 17-April 5, 2009 at the Fisher Theatre.

Monty Python's Spamalot returns to Detroit telling the legendary tale of King Arthur - played by the acclaimed star of television, film and stage Richard Chamberlain - and the Knights of the Round Table and their quest for the Holy Grail. Lovingly "ripped-off" from the internationally famous comedy team's most popular motion picture, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Spamalot is the winner of three 2005 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Director (Mike Nichols), as well as the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Musical.

Performance times for Monty Python's Spamalot, appearing Feb. 3-15, 2009 at the Fisher Theatre, located at 3011 W. Grand Blvd., in Detroit, are: Tuesday through Saturday performances at 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.; and Sunday evening performances at 7:30 p.m.

Ticket prices for the Detroit engagement of Monty Python's Spamalot range from $37.50 - $90.50.

Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street will make its Detroit premiere at the Fisher Theatre for a limited three-week engagement March 17 - April 5, 2009. This exciting and innovative new production features music and lyrics by multiple Tony Award-winner Stephen Sondheim, direction/design by Tony-Award winner John Doyle, and a multi-talented ensemble of actor/musicians. Sweeney Todd is the story of an infamous barber who takes up with his crafty neighbor, Mrs. Lovett. The two embark on a plot to slice their way through London's upper crust. Justice is served, along with lush melody, audacious humor and hair-raising excitement.

Performance times for Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, appearing March 17-April 5, 2009 at the Fisher Theatre, located at 3011 W. Grand Blvd., in Detroit, are: Tuesday through Saturday performances at 8 p.m.; matinee Thursday, March 19 at 1 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.; and, Sunday evening performances at 7:30 p.m. There is no performance March 22.

Ticket prices for the Detroit engagement of Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street range from $30 - $70.

Rent will return for a one-week limited engagement at the Detroit Opera House, Feb. 17-22, 2009 with original Broadway cast members Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp reprising the roles they made famous as Mark Cohen and Roger Davis in the original Broadway production and film version.

Performance times for Rent, Feb. 17- 22, 2009 at the Detroit Opera House, located at 1526 Broadway St., in Detroit are: Tuesday through Saturday performances at 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.; and Sunday evening performances at 7:30 p.m.

Ticket prices for the Detroit engagement of Rent range from $20 - $58.

Fiddler on the Roof, the Tony Award-winning musical starring Chaim Topol, will appear at the Detroit Opera House, March 3-8, 2009. A perennial hit since it first opened in 1964, Fiddler on the Roof has enjoyed critical acclaim for bringing to the stage a poignant story about enduring familial bonds.

Detroit audiences will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Jerome Robbins' original Broadway direction and choreography, complete with the star of the original West End production and the 1971 film, Chaim Topol.

Performance times for Fiddler on the Roof, appearing March 3-8, 2009 at the Detroit Opera House, located at 1526 Broadway St., in Detroit are: Tuesday through Saturday performances at 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.; and Sunday evening performances at 7:30 p.m.

Ticket prices for the Detroit engagement of Fiddler on the Roof range from $19 - $74.
