Tickets on sale August 14 for Cirque Ziva
The Golden Dragon Acrobats will return to the Fox Theatre with a performance of Cirque Ziva on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 3 p.m. Cirque Ziva is a fast-paced, technically innovative and beautifully presented spectacle for all ages.
Producer and Artistic Director Danny Chang and his Golden Dragon Acrobats continue their relentless, 30+ year US touring schedule of the centuries-old Chinese art form. Since 1985, they remain the only Chinese acrobatic company touring year-round in the United States and present more than 200 performances annually. The Golden Dragon Acrobats has separated itself from the majority of Chinese acrobatic companies touring the United States by emphasizing their artistic merit and cultural exchange. Moreover, the company spends more than one third of its tour participating in community and youth outreach programs.
In 1998, due to popular demand, the Golden Dragon Acrobats restructured itself and formed Asian Artists Production, Inc. or AAPI. In the next 10 years, AAPI continued to produce the Golden Dragon Acrobats and also created other shows for different markets. The latest of these theatrical productions, Cirque Zíva, was created in 2011. The large cast and spectacular set designs of Cirque Ziva illustrate the best of Chang’s brand of artistic merit, high production value and solid commitment to cultural exchange.
“The Golden Dragon Acrobats present a well-placed sampler of a highly stylized art form. There is a precision and beauty about everything these performers do.” – Washington Post
