News October 13, 2015 Encore Staff

Cabaret 313 presents intimate evenings of song, bringing extraordinary award-winning cabaret talent to Detroit. On Saturday, November 7, Broadway singer, actor and dancer, T. Oliver Reid, will take audiences on a freewheeling ride to Harlem, circa 1934, in his critically-acclaimed show Drop Me Off in Harlem. The performance features some of the best music the 1930s had to offer, from Duke Ellington to Fats Waller. It will take place at Detroit’s Carr Center on E. Grand River.

Reid, whose most recent Broadway credit is After Midnight, captured MAC Awards in 2011, 2012, and 2013, while making a string of high-profile appearances at Feinstein’s, 54 Below, and The Appel Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center. A “night to remember” is how The New York Times, described his cabaret show.

Sandi Reitelman, who co-founded Cabaret 313 said that “this cabaret performance is particularly appealing, because we’ll get a taste of what it might have been like to tour and experience the clubs of Harlem during its heyday– all in one evening. And, the Carr Center is a great place for this particular show.”

Tickets are $125 for preferred seating, $60 for general seating, and $25 for ages 30 and under. All performances have two show times, 7 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Doors open 45 minutes before each performance, with a complimentary reception featuring hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine. Information and tickets are available at cabaret313.org. Call 313.405.5061 with questions or for more info.

Cabaret 313 is a non-profit organization born of the vision of Metro Detroiters Sandi Reitelman and Allan Nachman. The mission is to foster the art form of cabaret in Detroit through award-winning performance and education. Performances are set in intimate spaces in Detroit.
