Thunder Bay opens with “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” June 15
Thunder Bay Theatre opens its summer season with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical parable. Joseph, his father’s favorite son, is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams. When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. Thunder Bay Theatre has updated and re-envisioned this classic musical. The cast of twenty features the Thunder Bay Theatre professional core company and is augmented by several local community members.
Thunder Bay Theatre’s production is uniquely set on a contemporary college campus and focuses on making the story relevant and accessible for today’s audience. The focus of Thunder Bay Theatre’s production is cultural diversity and acceptance, as well as the transformation that takes place in each character’s arc. Artistic director Jeffrey Mindock directs with Jennifer Jasso as music director and Lucas Moquin as choreographer. Jaclyn Zimmerman serves as scenic designer and technical director, with Corinne Bottelsen designing costumes. Colin Marshall designs both lights and sound.
Following the Friday, June 24 performance, Thunder Bay Theatre is hosting a Late Night Cabaret at John A. Lau’s Antler Room. The professional core company will spend the evening in a cabaret style event that features favorite songs from their repertoires. The bar and kitchen will stay open late, and tickets are $10 at the door.
Thunder Bay Theatre is located in the heart of downtown Alpena, within walking distance from the NOAA Marine Sanctuary and many high quality restaurants.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for teens 13-18, and $8 for children 12 and under with group discounts available. There is a talkback after the Thursday, June 23 and Thursday, July 7 performances.
