Van Singel Fine Arts Center announces their 2016-2017 season
BYRON CENTER: Van Singel Arts Center this season will present a series of shows featuring three national touring musicals, four great concerts and a fun family comedy! This fall, Van Singel Fine Arts center will feature the Broadway tour of Fame. Miracle on 34th Street will be produced during the holiday season, then, the new year opens with the musical comedy Pump Boys and Dinettes. Star War fans will enjoy The One Man Star Wars Trilogy, a parody on the popular film.
Fame–Sunday, October 23, 2016. Fame the Musical traverses the struggles, fears, and triumphs of young artists navigating the worlds of dance, music and theatre.
Miracle on 34th Street–Saturday, December 17, 2016. Miracle on 34th Street is a musical based on a favorite holiday tale by Valentine Davies and made famous by the 1947 movie of the same name. Kris Kringle fills in for Santa Claus in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, and proves to be such a hit that he is soon appearing regularly at the store on 34th Street. Kringle subsequently causes an uproar when he sends Macy’s customers to a rival store for better deals. But, when he claims he is the real Santa Claus, Kringle is forced to go on trial to defend his own sanity.
Pump Boys and Dinettes–Thursday, January 26, 2017. Those filling-station attendants with farmer tans and those waitresses with hot pots of java will make harmony when the musical Pump Boys and Dinettes routes its way into the Van Singel Fine Arts Center. With heartbreak and hilarity, the group perform on guitars, piano, bass and, kitchen utensils.
One-Man Star Wars Trilogy starring Charles Ross–Thursday, March 16, 2017. From the producer that brought you Potted Potter comes the only “Star Wars” parody permitted by Lucasfilm Ltd. Much of Ross’ childhood was spent in a galaxy far, far away, watching Star Wars videos over – and over – and over again. The result of this misspent youth is his hysterical One-Man Star Wars Trilogy, where he single-handedly plays all the characters, sings the music, flies the ships, fights the battles and condenses the plots into one hilarious show.
