Miller Auditorium announces 2017-2018 Broadway in West Michigan series
KALAMAZOO—Miller Auditorium has announced its 2017-18 Broadway in West Michigan Series. Anchoring the series is a two-week engagement of Disney’s The Lion King from April 4-15, 2018. Miller will also host Kinky Boots, The Wizard of Oz and The Sound of Music during the 2017-18 season.
Kinky Boots Octobe. 20–22, 2017: With songs by Cyndi Lauper, this musical, inspired by true events, takes you from a gentlemen’s shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos.
The Wizard of Oz January 5–7, 2018: The entire family will enjoy travelling down the Yellow Brick Road and beyond with Dorothy, Toto and their friends the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow in this lavish production, featuring breathtaking special effects, dazzling choreography and classic songs.
The Sound of Music February 9–11, 2018: Features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, suggested by “The Trapp Family Singers” by Maria Augusta Trapp.
Disney’s The Lion King April 4_15, 2018: Director Julie Taymor brings to life a story filled with hope and adventure set against an amazing backdrop of stunning visuals, with music by Elton John and Tim Rice.
