Preview July 22, 2017 Encore Staff

ANN ARBOR—Ellipsis Theatre Company at Theatre Nova presents The School for Sausage, an original Commedia dell’Arte scenario by Joanna Hastings and Scott Screws, directed by Scott Screws and developed by the Company in the traditional manner, through improvisation and with masks.

What is wrong with young people today? The Dottore thinks that they are in danger of giving in to libidinous urges. Pantalone and Babette have other complaints, but all are in agreement that a sound education is necessary. Can Lelio and Isabella’s love survive their schooling? Will Arlecchino ever get a meal? How will they all pay back their student loans? This story brings the traditional Commedia characters hilariously into the world of loan sharks and abstinence education.

Performances from July 27-August 1, Thursdays-Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm will be held at Theatre Nova, 410 W. Huron in Ann Arbor. Tickets are pay what you can Thursdays and Sundays, $20/$15 Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are available in advance at  https://www.artful.ly/theatre-nova/store/events/12712 or at the door.
