FERNDALE—The 1981 Pulitzer Prize Winner, Crimes of the Heart by Beth Henley comes to the Puzzle Piece stage, directed by associate artistic director Laura Heikkinen, running from February 2 to 18. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8:00 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm.

When the youngest of the Magrath sisters, Babe, shoots her abusive husband all three siblings gather at the family home to examine matters of the heart.

“It’s exciting to discover the timelessness of this story, perhaps timeliness.” says director Heikkinen, “It allows redefinition for what a “damsel in distress” looks like.”

The Puzzle Piece cast features Lauren Alo, Kaitlyn Valor Bourque, and Allison Megroet as the Magrath sisters. They are joined by Steve Xander Carson, Joe Hamid, and Taylor Morrow. In addition to direction, set, sound, and costume design by Laura Heikkinen, the creative team includes stage manager Shardai Davis, lighting design and technical director D.B. Schroeder, and company manager Sergio Mautone.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased on the theatre’s website www.puzzlestage.org or reserved by calling 248-291-7188.
