Ixion announces 2018-2019 season
LANSING—Ixion Ensemble’s 2018-2019 season ranges from science fiction space battle to a shabby Harlem tenement. Three directors will be making their Ixion directing debut in the coming season; it continues its commitment to parity with half of the shows being directed by women.
The Sunset Limited by Cormac McCarthy—September 8, 9, 15 & 16. On a subway platform in New York City, an ex-con from the South saves the life of an intellectual atheist who wasn’t looking for salvation. Now, the reformed murderer-turned-savior ventures to offer salvation of another kind, bringing the failed suicide victim back to his Harlem apartment for an articulate and moving debate about truth, fiction and belief. Directed by O. G. Ueberroth.
Welcome to the White Room by Trish Harnetiaux—October 20, 21, 27 & 28. The room is completely white. The audience discovers Ms. White, Jennings, and Mr. Paine shortly after they have arrived, and follow their journey as they attempt to figure out exactly what they are meant to be doing. Directed by Leo Poroshin.
Fight Girl Battle World by Qui Nguyen—March 16, 17, 23 & 24. E-V, the last human female in all the known galaxies, along with the help of her rag-tag team of an ex-military general, a feisty spaceship pilot, and one very sarcastic robot sidekick, quests to find the last human male before he is destroyed by alien forces. Directed by jeff croff.
Hope by TBA—May 18, 19, 22 & 23. A collection of short plays around the theme of “Hope”. Ixion is once again calling for short plays focused on a theme. Scripts will be accepted until September 30, 2018. Up to eight scripts will be selected for production.Directed by Danica O’ Neill.
