JET to announce 30th season lineup at annual gala September 6; event to feature The Capitol Steps
WEST BLOOMFIELD—The Jewish Ensemble Theatre will once again host The Capitol Steps in their new musical comedy review, Make America Grin Again. The nationally renowned politcal satire troupe will be the featured entertainment at JET’s annual gala which will be held at Temple Israel at 5725 Walnut Lake Road, from 6-9 p.m, on September 6th, 2018.
The Capitol Steps rose to fame in Washington DC where they have performed weekly for the past 30 years presenting their own unique brand of political humor through sketch comedy and original music. This performance in Temple Israel’s auditorium features a strolling dinner and dessert catered by The Epicurean Group.
The gala is to benefit JET’s youth outreach programs that feature anti-bullying plays for K-12 students and an annual production of The Diary of Anne Frank. JET’s Dorfman Family Foundation Youth Theatre has been touring schools with original anti-bullying plays for more than 20 years with an annual student audience of more than 30,000–and a lifetime audience of more than 600,000. Many of the schools are in areas of Detroit, and each year JET reaches out to its supporters to raise money to provide these plays at little or no cost.
After 29 years at its location in the West Bloomfield JCC, JET will be moving to its own theater space which will be announced at the gala. At that time, the 30th main stage season will also be revealed with season tickets available at the event.
Patron tickets for the event start at $180 and include strolling dinner, premium seating for The Capitol Steps and dessert.
