‘The Magic Flute’ at Opera Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–Opera Grand Rapids’ humorous production The Magic Flute is coming to DeVos Performance Hall this weekend Friday, October 26 & Saturday, October 27, is a shining introduction to opera for all ages. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart uses music to tell an allegorical tale of virtue, enlightenment and equality.
As a Singspiel, “sung play,” The Magic Flute incorporates both singing and spoken word, similar to today’s Broadway musicals that combine comedy, farce, and romance. Containing some of the most spirited and beautiful music of all time,The Magic Flute will be sung in English so that everyone present can follow the story.
Opera Grand Rapids’ Artistic Director, Maestro James Meena, leads the Opera Grand Rapids Chorus and Grand Rapids Symphony in this light-hearted, production directed by internationally acclaimed stage-director, James Marvel, with projected backgrounds by Michael Baumgarten.

Student tickets just $5 for any performance and can be purchased prior to the performance day or at the door (Student ID required at the door). Group discounts available for groups of 6 or more.
