Slipstream to hold cabaret night to kick off fifth season

Show Announcement November 23, 2018

FERNDALE, Mich. — Instead of a season preview or party fundraiser for Slipstream Theatre, Luna Alexander and Bailey Boudreau will perform a
one-night-only cabaret celebrating Boudreau’s birthday and the theater’s upcoming fifth season.

Resident music director Madelyn Sly will accompany each of them on piano. The 70-minute show will take place at 8 p.m. Dec. 15. There is a $10
suggested donation at the door. All are invited to come and help kick off season five with a new tradition. Boudreau says the theater plans to
introduce weekly cabaret nights this season on Mondays.

“We have some specific ones planned, including a girl band 90s night, and Diana Turner is doing a solo one on her birthday,” says Boudreau, who is
artistic director of Slipstream Theatre Initiative. “But it will serve as a cabaret night for anyone who is interested in singing some show tunes
with their friends.”

Future shows could include a guest host each week that will do three or four numbers.

“Luna and I have both spent a lot of time in other cities where the theatre community had cabaret bars they could go to any night of the week and
perform low key with their peers, and so we wanted to re-create that here.” Boudreau says. “We were fortunate enough to get a piano donated by our
vocal director, Jay Smith, and so we’re excited to be able to do more musical theatre and cabarets.”
