Bravo to Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller for $1 million gift to Mosaic Youth Theatre

DETROIT, Mich.–Jeffrey Seller, the legendary producer of Broadway’s “Hamilton,” has given Mosaic Youth Theatre a gift of $1 million.

The company had a 2017 operating budget of $1.5 million. The donation — announced late Wednesday — that over five years will fund Mosaic’s four-week summer camps and residencies in nine Detroit middle schools.

The grant came from the Seller-Lehrer Family Foundation, which Seller, 54, set up with his partner, photographer Josh Lehrer. According to Mosaic founder Rick Sperling, the money is specifically intended for programs that introduce kids, often from highly distressed neighborhoods, to Mosaic’s world.
