Puzzle Piece Theatre returns with ‘The Life and Death of King John’ 2/1
FERNDALE, Mich.–Puzzle Piece Theatre triumphantly returns for their sixth season with Shakespeare’s THE LIFE AND DEATH OF KING JOHN playing February 1st through 16th at 460 Hilton Rd. in Ferndale, MI 48220. Curtain times Thursday through Saturday at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00pm with tickets priced at $20.
“Mad world! mad kings! mad composition!” What lengths will one go to to gain power, and what deeds will be done to keep it? John sits on the throne of England. Constance, the widow of his deceased older brother Geoffrey, mother of the young Arthur believes her son is the rightful King. Alliances are made and bonds are broken in this rarely seen hidden gem of Shakespeare’s histories.
The play is directed by D.B. Schroeder, Puzzle Piece’s Producing Artistic Director who is no stranger to Shakespeare. He apprenticed at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, and is a company member of Shakespeare in Detroit, where he directed acclaimed productions of Macbeth and Henry V. “I have long admired this often overlooked tale of political corruption.” offers Schroeder. “I am fascinated with the concessions those in power will make to keep it at all costs. This play feels very timely in our heated political climate. I know audiences will recognize our brand of fresh, bold, and provocative theatre in this, our first Shakespearean offering.”
