‘Follow The Trail Of Dead Russians’ at MOCAD in Detroit 3/2-3/3
DETROIT – Feb. 11, 2019 – Broadway producers and creators of American Scoreboard, an ongoing produced series that follows the Trump administration with selected and verbatim readings of U.S. Senate and Congressional transcripts, Fran Kirmser and Christopher Burney, have teamed up with Detroit Public Theatre to bring the series to Detroit March 2 and 3 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD).
Featured reading for the Detroit dates will be the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee hearing with Clint Watts on the Russian interference in the 2016 election. Created and produced by Kirmser and Burney, American Scoreboard series bring together actors from theater, television and film to encourage all citizens of every background and political persuasion to actively engage in and listen to the language of our leaders.
The one-hour readings are presented without intentional slant or interpretation. The American Scoreboard production is a collaboration with MOCAD and Detroit Public Theatre as well as local Detroit theatres The Hinterlands, Matrix Theatre Company and Shakespeare in Detroit.

About American Scorecard Creators:
Christopher Burney is the Tony nominated Artistic Producer of New York’s Second Stage Theatre where he has worked since 1996. Of the over 100 productions he has shepherded at Second Stage: Tony-winning best musical Dear Evan Hansen, the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to Normal and Let Me Down Easy by Anna Deavere Smith. He created Second Stage’s Uptown Theatre program which has started the careers of many artists including the playwrights Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale), Rajiv Joseph (Animals Out of Paper), Leslye Headland (Bachelorette) and Bess Wohl (American Hero). As an educator, he is on faculty at Columbia University in the graduate theater program. Fran Kirmser is a Tony Award winning producer. Fran co-produced the award-winning August Wilson’s Radio Golf, the last play in an epic ten-play cycle by August Wilson, one of our nation’s greatest playwrights. Additional credits include Glenngary Glenn Ross starring Al Pacino, and two Tony awards winning Broadway revivals, Hair (2008-09) and Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf (2013-14). In 2008, off the heels of the financial crash, Fran conceived and produced a sports series for stage to explore stories of leadership, competition, and teamwork. The Broadway sports trilogy includes Bronx Bombers, Magic/Bird and Lombardi, based on the iconic leader and NFL coach Vince Lombardi which is currently being made into a feature film with Legendary Pictures.
