Interlochen announces summer lineup: Richard III and Diana Ross

Season Announcement April 20, 2019

INTERLOCHEN – Interlochen Center for the Arts will launch its 2019 Interlochen Arts Festival season to the public on April 12. Highlights include Interlochen Arts Camp alumnus Josh Groban, returning audience favorites Diana Ross and Reba McEntire, country music superstars Lady Antebellum, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Peter Frampton on his farewell tour, and much more.

While the season boasts a number of legendary performers on the Kresge stage, Interlochen’s campus will also come alive with student performances featuring promising young artists from across the nation and around the globe. Highlights include Dolly Parton’s adaptation of the hit film “9 to 5, The Musical”, the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, in six weekly concerts, led by  an impressive roster of renowned guest conductors and joined by an equally impressive line-up of guest artists – including acclaimed violinist Midori, Interlochen Shakespeare Festival presenting Shakespeare’s ruthless masterpiece “Richard III” as well as Eleanor Burgess’ thought-provoking drama “The Niceties,” the interdisciplinary fan favorite “Collage,” and more.

“We are very excited to share a season with our community that brings such an incredible range of artists and types of performances to the Interlochen campus. There truly is something for everyone to enjoy and to discover,” says Trey Devey, President of Interlochen Center for the Arts. “We look forward to welcoming tens of thousands of guests this summer, where they can expect a first-class performance experience from the many luminaries we’ll present as well as our talented students at Camp.”

“This is going to be a summer to remember,” continued Rory Baker, Executive Director of Interlochen Presents. “The Kresge stage will host some of the most enduring and successful names in entertainment. Beyond that, our campus will be teeming with a variety of student performances. It simply is one of the most immersive arts communities in the world.”

From front row center at Kresge to the hundreds of other performances across campus, the majority of which are free or low cost, the options are nearly endless this summer at Interlochen Center for the Arts.
