Enter Stage Right announces winter season in Port Huron

Season Announcement January 14, 2020

PORT HURON—Enter Stage Right has announced its winter 2020 season.

January 31 through February 16: The Hobbit by Patricia Gray, directed by Regina Spain. In this classic Tolkien “ring” story, Bilbo, a conservative hobbit, is asked to leave his home in the ground in order to set off as chief robber in an attempt to recover treasure from the fierce dragon, Smaug. It’s the last thing any sensitive hobbit would want to do, but along with trusty dwarfs, steady elves, and the great Gandalf, this hobbit may conquer enemies along the way and the hearts of those children and adults who continue to enjoy such magic. Action adventure, family friendly.

February 28 through March 15: Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling, directed by Kaylee Loxton. Ride the ups and downs at Truvy’s beauty parlour where the women regularly gather. Watch the events of over three years unfold as Shelby’s decision to have a child despite the complication that could result from her condition, Clairee’s friendship with the curmudgeon Ouiser; Annelle’s transformation from shy, anxious newcomer to good-time girl then repentant revivalist Christian; and Truvy’s relationships with the men in her family. Although the main storyline involves Shelby’s medical battles and her mother M’Lynn, the underlying group-friendship among all six women is prominent throughout the drama. Drama, some adult themes.

March 27 through April 11: Three Musketeers by Ken Ludwig, directed by Regina Spain. This adaptation is based on the timeless swashbuckler by Alexandre Dumas, a tale of heroism, treachery, close escapes and above all, honor. The story, set in 1625, begins with D’Artagnan and his sister, Sabine, who set off for Paris in search of adventure.  Soon, D’Artagnan encounters the greatest heroes of the day, Athos, Porthos and Aramis, the famous musketeers. He joins forces with his heroes to defend the honor of the Queen of France. In so doing, he finds himself in opposition to the most dangerous man in Europe, Cardinal Richelieu and the infamous Countess de Winter (Milady), who will stop at nothing to revenge herself on D’Artagnan – and Sabine – for their meddlesome behavior. Action adventure, family friendly.
