Monster Box presents ‘Cuckoo’s Nest’ with John DeMerell and Betty DeWulf

Show Announcement January 09, 2020

WATERFORD, MICH.–Monster Box Theatre opens its much anticipated One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Dale Wasserman on Friday, January 17th.

The drama, adapted from the novel by Ken Kesey centers around a ward in a mental institution where the uneven distribution of power is questioned by new arrival, R.P. McMurphy (John DeMerell). Nurse Ratched (Betty DeWulf) runs her ward with a laser like focus on “the rules” – which is
challenged by McMurphy’s habitual rule breaking and gambling. The other inmates begin to flock to him, including the stuttering Billy Bibbit (Daniel DeRey) and the silent Chief Bromden (Ben Feliciano).

McMurphy is determined to be free; but not before winning some money by making “The Big Nurse” lose her cool and throwing a party for his new friends. However, when rules get broke there are always consequences.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest opens Friday, January 17th at 7:30. Performances run Fridays and Saturdays (7:30 pm), and Sundays (2:00 pm) for three weekends through Saturday, February 1st. An open industry night performance will be available Thursday, January 23rd at 7:30 pm. Shows will take place at Monster Box Theatre (2529 Elizabeth Lake Rd, Waterford, MI.)
