Ten Questions: With Guy Sanville
CHELSEA, Mich.–As a diversion from the Covid-19 lockdown and absence nence of live theater, EncoreMichigan is going to publish a series of “Ten Questions” based on Actors Studio legend James Lipton’s famous questions.
Lipton died recently, so we thought it would be a homage to his contributions, and we could have some fun at the same time while stuck at home.
Guy Sanville is the Artistic Director of The Purple Rose Theatre here, founded by Jeff Daniels. He is in his 25th year in that post. This season, which has been interrupted like every other theatre’s, featured four new world premiere’s, all by Michigan playwrights, including one first-time playwright, Lauren Mounsey, who is a former apprentice at PRT, and has worked as an actor and director at the theatre.
Sanville has been a director, actor and teacher at The Purple Rose, and has, with his colleagues, created a large and broad tree of actors, directors, stage managers and designers that have populated most of the professional theaters in Michigan, and many beyond the state.
He is also a proud member of Actors Equity Association and is a passionate believer in unions.
