DETROIT, October 6, 2022…The decisions are made. The films are chosen. And, Matrix Theatre is ready for its closeup with a great lineup of movies at its upcoming Bagley Street Film Festival, a celebration of Michigan filmmakers, taking place October 21, 22, and 23, held at two (2) locations in Southwest Detroit’s Mexicantown: Matrix Theatre at 2730 Bagley and The Ford Resource & Engagement Center at 20^th Street, directly across from the theatre. The festival highlights Michigan filmmakers in a variety of film types – features, documentaries, shorts, and animation, along with a special block of films produced by youth 17 and under. Ticket prices are $10 per block, or buy a weekend pass for $30. Closing night awards reception is Sunday, October 23. Get the details on the beginnings of the WNBA from a film on its first recruit in Miss Basketball. Experience the early days of Black Bottom, along with the influence music had on the community’s vibrancy in Paradise Boogie.
