September 01, 2019

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.–Michigan Michael Chekhov Classes, led by Jeff Thomakos, the world’s only tri-certified instructor of The Michael Chekhov Technique of Acting is offering two workshops for adults for September.

On Wednesday, September 10th from 7pm-10pm, Mr. Thomakos will be offering Stepping into Archetypes. Students will explore the five most common character archetypes in order to find ways to play with and against them to create compelling and original characterizations for stage and film. The cost is only $25 for this fun, active, and informative class that is appropriate for actors of all skill levels ages 16 and up. This workshop will be held at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Farmington.

Beginning on Sunday evenings, September 15th, Michigan Michael Chekhov Classes will also offer 8-week Continuous-Acting Classes. These classes are geared to actors with at least two years of experience in theatre, film, or improvisation who wish to improve and hone their skills, learn technique, and work on their craft in a safe, creative, and professional environment. Classes begin at 7pm and cover various ways to improve one’s acting from audition to performance and beyond. Actors will be encouraged to bring in monologues or scenes that they wish to explore as well as ways to improve their cold readings and general approach to the craft. Each class will focus partly on technique and partly on coaching to enable the actor to immediately use each approach covered that evening. Classes will be held for 8-weeks until November 3rd in Downtown Ferndale.  The cost for the 8-week course is $240.
