MOT seeks program coordinator
Program Coordinator: Education and Community Programs
This is an Entry-level position with Michigan Opera Theatre’s Department of Education and Community Programs (ECP). The position includes both administrative and production duties, and supports MOT’s promotion of opera throughout the community and the region. It is understood that occasional nights and weekends will be required.
Specific Responsibilities: ADMINISTRATION • Manage and coordinate event, rehearsal, and performance schedules • Communicate with artists; assemble and distribute music, bios, and other materials
Provide logistical support for various events • Assist with development of educational materials and study guides • Assist with audition posting and application process TOURING/COMMUNITY EVENTS • Assist with stage management of ECP productions • Assist with transport of set and talent; production load in/load out; set/costume changes, etc.
Collaborate on ECP casting, repertoire, and new projects, etc.
Position Qualifications: • Passion for theatre, music, and the performing arts • Rudimentary musical experience preferred • Experience working with youth preferred • Must have a valid driver’s license • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or commensurate experience • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; articulate, outgoing, and friendly • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail-oriented • Additional skills may be required to perform tasks specific to work location, project and/or performance Note: The job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
