ANN ARBOR—Penny Seats opens its ninth summer season in Ann Arbor’s West Park, with Lee Blessing’s Fortinbras , a comedy (in modern English) that imagines a sequel to Shakespeare’s Hamlet, directed by Joe Zettelmaier. Performances run from June 13 through 29. Tickets are available at the gate or online at www.pennyseats.org.
What happens when you stumble upon the last scene of Hamlet and suddenly realize that YOU are now the new king of Denmark? (Which is weird, because you’re from Norway.) How do you handle that news, and explain all the dead bodies? And what’s with all the ghosts at Elsinore? Are they all out to get you? And how do you follow a legend?
Due to some language and sexual innuendo, this show is most appropriate for teens and adults.
