Set on the construction site of a soon-to-be public park in Queens, NY, the friendship between a black foreman and a younger white landscaper is tested when a newly hired crew member’s past is revealed. The site the workers are reclaiming is the locality of the brutal murder of two young girls, one black and one white.
Harmony Park is directed by a founder of the Rep, Barbara Busby (DETROIT). Her cast for Harmony Park consists of four veteran Rep actors, one of which has been away from the Rep for over twenty years. Mark Bishop (ROYAL OAK) who portrays Sam in Harmony Park portrayed Tank in Bullpen back in 1990. Harold Hogan (SOUTHFIELD), the much admired Rep veteran, heads the Harmony Park cast in the role of Ernie, the landscape foreman. Aaron Kottke (DETROIT) portrays Mike, the younger landscaper. Mr. Kottke’s last role at the Rep was his acclaimed performance of the mentally challenged son in Sweet Pea’s Mama. Samer Ajluni returns to the Rep as a fellow landscaper, Jose. Mr. Ajluni (FARMINGTON HILLS) was last seen at the Rep as the surprise visitor in Forgiving John Lennon.
