Paradise Blue 09/25–11/03
DETROIT—The Detroit Public Theatre opens its fifth season with Paradise Blue, the third play in MacArthur Genius award-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau’s Detroit cycle, running from September 25 – November 3. Tickets are available online at detroitpublictheatre.org or by calling (313) 576-5111.
The play is set in Detroit’s Black Bottom neighborhood as it is being gentrified in 1949. Blue, a brilliant jazz musician, is torn between remaining in Black Bottom or leaving behind his traumatic past. Paradise Blue is a passionate, timely look at what is lost—and what is gained—by the people of a city in transition.
