Ringwald gives up lease in Ferndale

News November 10, 2020 David Kiley

FERNDALE, MI–After fourteen years on Woodward Avenue here, The Ringwald will move out of its space, owing to the pause in live theater due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has shuttered theaters since March.

Co founder Joe Bailey took to Youtube Monday to make the announcement, but said that this is not the end of The Ringwald. He and partner Brandy Joe Plambeck and the theater’s board will be looking for new space to coincide with the re-start of theatre when hopefully the virus is under control.

The Ringwald has produced many Wilde Award winning plays and musicals and is a fixture around the Ferndale, Detroit and Royal Oak areas. And it has been a magnet for LGBTQ patrons around all of Southeast Michigan for its often LGBTQ-friendly offerings.

The theater will soon air a holiday film it has shot in the space. Keep up with The Ringwald on facebook for details.

EncoreMichigan wishes everyone connected with The Ringwald the best of good luck in engineering its restart.
