Detroit Mercy Theatre Company

The Theatre Company was established in 1972 and has been an award-winning member of the Detroit area theatre community. Using an apprenticeship approach to stimulate artistic growth in a creative production process, The Theatre Company combines the work of seasoned professionals with young talents from the Performing Arts Department at University of Detroit Mercy.

The Theatre Company’s mission is “our theatre is our community.”  Producing a season of at least four major productions, The Theatre Company produces cutting edge works by contemporary playwrights, original works as well as classics and musicals.

Having performed at different performance venues throughout Metro Detroit over the past 46 years, The Theatre Company is currently performing at The Marlene Boll Theatre at the Boll Family YMCA in downtown Detroit.   With productions running Thursdays – Sundays for three or more weekends, The Theatre Company offers a unique professional training ground for students, while offering the Detroit community entertaining theatre that provokes ideas, transformation, and community building.
