Wishing Well Theatre in Fenton auditions for The Tempest April 23, 24

Wishing Well Theatre Inc invites actors to audition for their Summer 2024 production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. After their successful productions of Much Ado About Nothing (2021) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2022), they return to Fenton’s Rackham Park with one of Shakespeare’s magical final plays – The Tempest.

April 23 – in Rochester, MI at Oakland University, Varner Hall – Lab Theatre, Room 133 I-75 to exit 79 – “University Drive” – East 1 mile to Oakland University Varner Hall is East of the Library and the Engineering Building
Parking lots are on the East and West side of Varner Hall
If you don’t find a parking spot right away, you’ll normally find one
on the ground floor of the parking structure
across the parking lot on the East side of Varner Hall

Please prepare one Shakespeare monologue, preferably in verse, no longer than 2 minutes. If you have a second piece prepared, you may be asked for it—or may include it on your video.

One AEA contract.

Rehearsals begin July 30th – five-week rehearsal process .

Performances Fri, Sat, Sun: August 30 – September 8, 2024 Audition Dates: April 23 & 24

The banished duke Prospero and his daughter Miranda have lived on a desolate island since he was thrust out of power by his usurping brother Antonio. As a ship filled with his enemies sails nearby, Prospero conjures a tempest that leaves them wrecked and sprawled on his shores. Through magic and twists, Prospero exacts revenge… as his daughter discovers something altogether different.

The play will be directed by Karen Sheridan and will perform at Rackham Park August 30, 31 and September 1 in Fenton, Michigan; and September 6, 7, 8 in Linden, Michigan where it will rehearse.
