Ambition Hits the Stage at the Container Globe this Labor Day Weekend
MACBITCHES runs Sept 3-6
DETROIT — As colleges and schools return to session and audition week draws near, macbitches, a dark comedy by Sophie McIntosh, exposes the realities of friendships in the face of competition. The play runs Sept. 3-6, 2026, at the Container Globe, a modern recreation of London's Globe Theatre built out of repurposed shipping containers.
The play is directed by iyla a. stebbins, a Metro Detroit resident and recent MFA Theatre graduate of Wayne State University. The all-femme and nonbinary ensemble features young professional Metro Detroit artists who are also alumni or current students of fine arts programs at Michigan universities.
The production also features a “Bitches Give Back” campaign that amplifies Linkage
Community, a creative network with and for individuals directly impacted by incarceration.
Audiences can learn more about Linkage at each performance, enjoy pieces from their recent
mobile exhibits, and receive a free bookmark with proof of donation. A small portion of all ticket
sales will be donated to Linkage Community.

About the Show:
When a freshman is unexpectedly given the coveted role of Lady Macbeth, a
few upperclassmen actresses invite her over to "celebrate" her casting and reassert their positions at the top of the theater department's hierarchy. As the Fireball and Svedka flow, the girls interrogate their own sense of ambition as well as the power structures that have shaped their theatrical education.
