Explosive, poetic, and completely original, Ballets Jazz Montréal arrives at the Detroit Opera House on October 17with their highly anticipated tour de force Dance Me: The Music of Leonard Cohen.

In recognition of their 45th Anniversary season and in memory of Dr. Wharton—whose 100th birthday would have been this month—Wharton Center announced today that each season, one performance will be designated as the Clifton and Dolores Wharton Legacy Performance. This designation honors the Whartons’ vision for bringing world-class performing arts to the MSU campus and community by highlighting a performance or genre that they loved.

When the Obsidian Theatre Festival (OTF) returns to Detroit for its 7th season, June 24–27, 2027, it will do something it has never done in six years of centering Black stories: it will dance. For the first time in OTF history, the festival is opening its stages to choreography, launching a new Obsidian Dance Theatre Stage.

The Obsidian Theatre Festival (OTF), the flagship program of the GhostLight Arts Initiative (GLAI), is thrilled to announce that submissions are officially open for its 7th Annual Festival, taking place June 24–27, 2027, in Detroit. For its 7th season, OTF continues to expand its multi-stage model, giving writers, composers, and choreographers several distinct paths into the festival.
