DETROIT, August 14, 2025 – Detroit Opera will host its annual piano sale at the Detroit
Opera House on September 5, 6, and 7. The piano event is open to the public by
appointment only. More than 200 new and gently used pianos will be available for
purchase; they will fill the main lobby and Detroit Opera mainstage during the sale. Media
are invited on-site as pianos are being loaded in on September 3 and 4, as well as on
September 5.
Patrons wishing to attend the September 5–7 sale must make an appointment at
detroitoperapiano.org or by phone at 248-756-6589.
A wide range of grand, upright, digital, hybrid, and Disklavier player pianos will be sold at
significant discounts from their regular prices. Top-quality brands will include Yamaha, Bösendorfer, Clavinova, Baldwin, Schimmel, Estonia, vintage Steinway, and more. Most pianos are less than one year old, come with a new manufacturer warranty, and are tuned. All pianos are sold at institutional prices not normally available in retail stores. Delivery and special financing will be offered at the sale.
Through an annual partnership with Solich Piano, Detroit Opera has had the use of new
Yamaha pianos for its 2024–25 season. For the 2025–26 season, Detroit Opera again will
receive a free loan of new Yamaha pianos to be used for Detroit Opera’s artist rehearsals,
performances, and community events. This is an exceptional opportunity to purchase a
high-quality piano and help support the Detroit Opera loan program at the same time.
All patrons who come to the sale may enter a drawing to win a free pair of tickets to one of
Detroit Opera’s season productions: Highways and Valleys, The Handmaid’s Tale, or
Apartment House 1776.
The piano sale will take place at Detroit Opera House, 1526 Broadway Street, Detroit, MI
48226. More information—including directions and appointment options—is available at
https://detroitoperapiano.org/. Free secured, gated parking is provided on-site.
