DESCRIPTION

In 1994, a group of high schoolers self-produced and performed the rock musical Godspell in order to raise fund for the high school choir trip (which had its funding cut earlier that summer). The production exceeds expectations and resulted in several performances throughout the state of Michigan. Nearly1/2 of the high schoolers then went on to study at musical theater programs such as Northwestern, University of Michigan, Albion, etc. Today almost the entire group has experience performing on Broadway, off-Broadway, classical theatres, operas, clubs and other professional music institutions. Also, we're all crazy good friends!!!!

Fast forward 30 years, the group wants to have a reunion to celebrate this special moment in our lives. We are planning to put on a music-only production of the show, back in Lansing, and donate all proceeds to one of our cast member's dear mother's foundation, the Holly Lapratt Creative Fund.

The band musical director will be a cast member and bassist, Michael Lee. Michael will provide all charts/score, recordings, notes and run rehearsals/performance for the show. We are looking for a jazz trained (or equivalent) pianist who is comfortable with playing rock/groove/by feel(charts) and also classical (scores). We are offering the pianist/keys/organ player $700 for the performance and rehearsals. The drummer must also be comfortable playing rock/groove/by feel(charts) and also classical/scores. We are offering the drummer $400 for the performance and rehearsals. We are looking for a high-level skill in both technique and style. The performance will be roughly an hour, and two 3–4-hour rehearsals are planned. One will be the day prior to the performance, and another will be roughly a week prior to that. The church will have the PA and sound system needed. Each musical must provide their own gear, amps, chords, stands, etc. However, there is flexibility as Michael has access to professional level keyboards, amps, etc. if needed. We are so excited to spend the weekend together for some high-quality music, catching up, laughing and celebrating this special time in our life.

We would love to work with high-quality musicians who can bounce between rock and classical to join this project.
