Thumbcoast Theatres Launches their 2026 Season, Continuing to Bring Professional Theatre to Marine City & St. Clair

ThumbCoast Theatres is bringing the sarcastic and clever Groundhog Day the Musical to The Boardwalk Theatre stage this winter, running February 14 – March 1, 2026. This production follows the 2025 holiday hit Annie and promises a high-energy, comedic experience for audiences in downtown St. Clair.

Based on the beloved 1993 film, the musical follows Phil Connors, a cynical TV weatherman

sent to cover the annual Groundhog Day event in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Phil finds

himself trapped in a time loop, forced to relive the same day over and over again. As he

navigates the repetition with everything from frustration to hedonism, he eventually discovers

that the only way to break the cycle is to change his outlook on life and learn the true meaning

of connection.

Groundhog Day, directed by Thumbcoast Artistic Director Brittany Everitt Smith, kicks off a full season of programming, featuring eight productions across the year. Classics like My Fair Lady will run alongside more contemporary works like The Shark is Broken -- a comedic play exploring the behind-the-scenes drama of the 1975 film Jaws.
