HAMTRAMCK, MICH – Planet Ant invites audiences to experience an
immersive and silly theatrical event with FRAT RAT, an original satirical one act, written
and directed by Helen Rose Consiglio III. Running May 29th–June 13th at the Planet
Ant Black Box, the show explores what happens when a poorly behaved co-ed
fraternity has to successfully elect their next chapter president and avoid being banned
from campus…forever!
FRAT RAT is an original one act play from the Planet Ant One Act Farm Team.
The Lambda Lambda chapter of Delta Iota Kappa (DIK) is back on campus and
desperate to stay that way. The university gave them one condition: run a clean,
responsible presidential election. Unfortunately, DIK’s candidates are…DIK’s
candidates.
With sharp rituals, escalating chaos, and lip-syncing competitions, FRAT RAT explores a
recently reinstated co-ed fraternity that must elect their next president, but when the
candidates refuse to follow the rules, the fraternity is at risk of being shut down
permanently. Ashley, Brian, and Chad all want to be president of Delta Iota Kappa (DIK)
at Fleming University (FU). As they campaign, egos are wounded, morals are tested,
and feelings are hurt. Aside from the presidential election, Fleming University also hosts
a lip syncing dance competition called Mock Rock. Between memorizing speeches and
song lyrics, tensions rise and bad behavior runs rampant. If Ashley, Brian, and Chad
can’t manage to put aside their differences (and egos), DIK risks a permanent shutdown
from Fleming University’s campus.
FRAT RAT is an immersive comedy where the audience pledges, participates, and
votes on key decisions that steer the election and determine the ending. With 4 possible
endings, it’s up to the audience how each performance ends. It’s DIK vs. the university,
ambition vs. values, and streakers vs. the wind.
